Josh Gates grew up in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, where the Atlantic Ocean was always within reach. He studied Archaeology and Drama at Tufts University — a combination that would turn out to be the perfect training ground for a career spent digging up history on camera.
Before television found him, Josh conducted deep-sea research off the coast of Israel for the University of Maryland. His father is a professional deep-sea diver. Adventure, it seems, was always going to be the job.
Since 2007, he has filmed in over 100 countries, written a bestselling memoir — Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter (2011) — and earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Expedition Unknown.
